'We are poor because we think that’s all we can be' - Quite a truism, yet time and time again Africa never learns that emancipation from poverty cannot come from the developed world but from our own individual and collective efforts. Exponents for eradicating poverty using aid monies and live concerts are unmistakably mistaken that debt relief, and development funds will end this vicious cycle. This is will never happen at all. I will highly recommend you read 'Dead Aid: Why Aid Is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa' authored by Zambian economist Dambisa Moyo.
Their intentions are good but the results are not supportive of their pursuit. I believe they act out of sincerity, using their fame to make some hefty noise, to raise money and ease the plight of the poor. That is humanitarian and that is welcome. However, eradicating poverty is a battle to be waged at the root cause of it which is we African's. We have to be responsible of our continent's development.

I always say the the victim of a conman is to be more blame than the conman. Africa can no longer keep on blaming the west for its woes. If the west has plundered us, its because we have allowed it. Those Asian countries dealt with the west differently so we have no excuse.

Bono et al are doing good, just like I would give a beggar a penny. I have made his day. I have used my ability then and done what I can. Celebrate me. Let another deal with the one who made the beggar become, [government].
