Fast Forward is a new leadership development programme, launching in Kenya in 2008. It has a specific aim: to develop the leaders of ‘business unusual’ and take them on the final leg of their learning journey - developing WISDOM and GOOD JUDGEMENT in leadership. The programme will select a small group of participants every year and take them through a highly interactive programme to develop deep insights into the nature of business leadership. Early this year I had the chance to talk to an executive coach who works with leading Wall Street CEOs.
During the few hours that we chatted, I asked him whether leaders are born or made? For someone whose bread is buttered by coaching leaders to be more effective and with almost 30 years experience with the high and mighty of capitalism, he had a lot of interesting stories to tell me, including that of the CEO of the company I work for.
It would be interesting if you penned an article on whether leaders are born or made. I am interested in finding out your views.
As we head into the presidential elections, you could also write something about the leadership qualities of the 3 contenders. I believe the next 5 years will be defined by the leadership qualities of whoever bags the presidency.
