When I was younger we would sell “free things” around the house so that we could go party. Back then as a teenager, I was the neighborhoods best know business man because I knew the best places to sell your parents “free things”. In hindsight I was only doing what the grownups around me were doing, taking government “free things” and selling them for super normal profits, that was the “true” business not the working hard to plant and make things then selling them at the market type business. The sense that one really gets ahead by their ability to utilize free things is a very strong cultural trait and interests. It’s this strong drive that prevents us from questioning jut how free things are because it goes against our basic instinct. The free safaricom calling was an inconvenience that should never be repeated! For starters the condition of topping up on a daily basis, safaricom made millions out of it i assume. They also come up with many offers but do not improve their services. Kenyans (including me) we need to learn not to take shortcuts and appreciate that other African countries are catching up while we still think are the best! I’m assuming we have more peculiarities.
