It's a shame that our MPs have not been paying taxes and it is time they started doing so! Their reasoning on why they should not be taxed is also backward! The MPs should be asking themselves why their constituents have to keep on borrowing/asking for freebies from them. What are the structural issues in the economy that make us have so much poverty in their constituents and Kenya in general. They should be debating on the real issues and making legislations on issues that lift people from poverty!

When our MPs spend most of their time on non value add debates on reasons why they wont pay taxes, no wonder we cant break off this povert cycle!

I don't know why MPs say they shouldn't be taxed because they spend their money on their constituents. I pay taxes and I'm also spending on THEIR constituents - my family and I are whose constituents?

So if MPs pay for constituent's neds, where does allocated funds for such purposes go too? I mean LATF, CDF, etc, etc. And what are ministries responsible for improving cistizen lifes doing with their budgets then? Is supporting needy beneficiaries on an individual basis the panacea of rooting out poverty? My guess is systems are established fo such purposes. And why are MPs getting huge enertainment allowances? Who are they entertaining? The answer usually comes when a male MP dies in office. The que of beneficiaries do indeed line up. And why is it most MPs and bwanakubwas have more than two or three wives in line? What about our female MPs? Give onto Ceaser what is Ceaser's.

The suggestion that all those MPs who oppose the proposal that they pay taxes be named and shamed is indeed a good one. Infact if it comes to that i envision the dailies' titles screaming " DONT DARE TAX US- WE ARE SPECIAL" complete with a list of the legislators' names and their constituencies. Who do these people think they are anyway? Why is it that everytime someone makes it to the so-called August House they think they are demi-gods? And what do they have to show after five years of self-aggrandicement? A couple of myopic bills that aren't implemented and are gathering dust in the shelves. It was a masterpiece Sunny. The Bindraholic.
