Sunny
Hi. You would make a good copywriter with your analogy. Kweli we are in a bad state in all spheres.
For example, I travelled to Dar by bus in 06 from Nairobi and from Arusha to Dar there are no potholes! And yet we 'diss' Tanzanians for being humble. At this rate even Newcastle is better off than us. We are heading the GM way, with no one to buy a 'stake' in us to enable the country rebuild itself.

Farai:

You are quite right that passionate supporters can cause a return to greatness by not tolerating falling standards. In Kenya, however, I fear that the people are becoming as delusional as the leaders, particularly the middle classes and the business sector. We are punching above our weight as a country, and not learning any humility from our many reversals.

Brilliant article. i think you have hit the nail on the head. i may not be Kenyan but i have certainly witnessed some of the things you mentioned exhibited by many Kenyan friends and the same can also be said about my home country where we still shout about past glories and ignore the depths to which we have plunged! the one good thing about passionate fans/citizens though is that there is potential to convert that passion to positive action. the face that Kenyans laud themselves being from great country ought to inspire them to act to maintain the high standards they nation has.
