Alfred:

My honest opinion is that very few HR professionals in Kenya are setting the trend or controlling the agenda. Most are in the hands of their CEOs and do as they are told to maximise the immediate bottom line. There are a few exceptions, and I know most of them. But enlightened thinking about motivation at work is rare.

Sunny,

Always a good read.

I have a question-am an Hr professional and as much as we try to seek for non-financial incentives, the mind set especially the new generation of managers is still on monetary incentives. And as you said no wonder they hop from one job to another. My suggestion is that as professionals we have the power of steering the change of this mind set by starting to sell the ideas to employees. it is the same concept of either taking or encashing your leave days. If encashment is encouraged then employees overwork themsleves and the Company loses.

Regards
